About

The club promotes activities related to:
And that list is just limited to the interests we have inside the club so far, so if you have a great passion that involves the outdoors (for instance: white water rafting, spelunking, skydiving, etc... )and are interested in having the outing club sponsoring you, don't be afraid to contact the officers.

Throughout this year we will be promoting several fun trips and events such as: beginners climbing trips to college rock and other close cliffs, hikes, slacklining over the pool during mid winter, overnight activities at Metrorock (indoor rock climbing gym in Boston), as well as many other things.

The OC mailing list also serves as a meeting place and smaller trip manager for all it's members, so if someone decides to go Mountain biking next Saturday and still has one slot on the car, you might be able to do him a favor and fill up that space.

We also have a closet with a considerable amount of gear related to camping, winter hiking and rock climbing. So if you're going camping this weekend and lack a sleeping bag, we can lend you one. Check the "Gear" section for more details.

And don't forget to check the "Media" section to see some of the trips we had in the past.

The primary goals of the WPI Outing Club are to promote outdoor activities and bring together people with common interests in the outdoors. Despite being only recently reinstated, we are working hard to develop and strengthen the club's participation within the WPI community.

The Outing Club promotes many outdoor activities. Particularly popular are:

However, we are open to exploring trips and events for all outdoor activities. If you have a great passion for an activity (i.e.: white water rafting, spelunking, skydiving, etc.) and are interested in having the Outing Club sponsor you, do not be afraid to contact the officers (ocofficers@wpi.edu).

Throughout the year, the OC will be promoting several trips and events. In previous years, these have included: beginners climbing trips, typically to College Rock, "Intro to Mountaineering" trips in New Hampshire, slack-lining over the pool in mid-winter, winter "Camping in the Quad", as well as several other hiking, climbing, and skiing trips throughout the course of the year. Many of these have become annual events. In order to sign up for these and other trips (You will be notified via the mailing list as they become available.), check out the "Events" section of the website. Trips are often limited by car space, so sign-ups are on a first-come first-serve basis.

Regular events, which don't require a sign-up, include weekly trips to Worcester's Central Rock gym.

The OC mailing list also serves as a meeting place and smaller trip manager for all its members. Any club member can use the list as a place to organize their own small scale trips. If someone is planning a ski trip and has an extra seat, the mailing list is a great way of finding someone interested in accompanying.

The Club also has a closet with a considerable amount of gear related to camping, winter-hiking and rock-climbing. The gear is available to all members, with those who rented it held accountable for its proper use and care.eContact our Equipment Manager Catherine Shea (c.shea@wpi.edu) for details of available gear and forms/terms for its release.

And don't forget to check the "Media" section to see some of the trips we have had in the past.
